PhDs wanted Editor and Social Media Manager roles Our in-house magazine for PhDs, STEPS, is looking for more volunteers to fill editorial and social media manager roles. If youre interested in any sort of public engagement or communications role, or want to help build a thriving community of researchers at the University of Manchester, this is a great chance: to make a difference to other researchers to develop evidence to demonstrate your leadership potential, and to add something to your CV which will make you stand out. Youre not expected to write all the copy you can commission others to do that. (I know, as I often get a can you write a Top Ten Tips on ? email from someone on the editorial team heres an example of an article I wrote on getting what you want in your career.) However, you will need to be a great communicator, and for the social media manager, youll have to be fully au fait with the world of blogging, tweeting and whatever other channels you can suggest to get their message out.
